Jubilee ConcertPosted 30 May 2022
The Jubilee Concert was a great success with local singer and musician Bondy entertaining a large crowd in the parish church who ranged in age from toddlers to great grandparents.
Before the concert the Midsummer Festival committee crowned Festival princesses Summer Sinclair and Ellie Blake (see below), winners of a competition. Summer’s dad Matthew Sinclair then decided to enter the Town Crier competition and made it a night of double celebration for the family when he was duly chosen as the new Town Crier. His first duty was to cry the official Platinum Jubilee proclamation that evening after the town’s Community Choir had entertained by singing the Platinum Jubilee song and the National Anthem.
The Mayor Cllr Linda Ashley then began the countdown to the lighting of the beacon by Cllr James Carney, an event witnesses by a large, enthusiastic crowd.
